Author’s Purpose Task Cards

Author’s Purpose Task Cards

Students in third, fourth, and fifth grade are reading fiction—and lots of it! But even in fiction, authors always have a purpose. This fiction comprehension worksheet has students read eight sample passages. Then, they will decide if the author in each is trying to persuade, inform, or entertain. They'll record their thoughts on the author’s purpose task cards, using evidence from the text to support their answers.
