Digraphs: th & sh

Digraphs: th & sh

Print out pictures of words with either "th" or "sh" sounds in them. Have your child sort these into two different groups: one for "th" words and one for "sh" words.
When introducing digraphs show students pictures of things that begin with two different digraphs like "th" and "sh." Have them say the word with you and help you sort them into different sections in a pocket chart.

How To Writing

How To Writing

For a fun activity, have your child write instructions for a basic task such as making a sandwich or brushing your teeth. Follow the instructions exactly and get silly with it to show your child that she needs to be specific in her writing!
When starting a how-to writing unit, be sure to model and interactively write a text with your whole class. Use something that the whole class might be able to do like brushing teeth, making a sandwich, or checking a book out from the library.
