Superpower Senses

Kindergarten Social emotional Activities: Superpower Senses

What You Need:

What You Do:

  1. Ask your child what superpowers they may have.
  2. Engage in a conversation with your child about how practising mindfulness (i.e. paying attention to one thing with care and attention) can be a superpower.
  3. Ask your child the following questions: How can mindful listening be a superpower? How can it help our family? (Potential responses: It improves focus and attention; it brings kind attention to others who are speaking.)
  4. With your child, go around your home and practise using your listening superpower. Write down everything you both hear, and use the Superpower Senses at Home worksheet as a guide.
  5. Then, ask your child to draw a representation of all the things they can hear when they listen with care and attention. Place their drawing somewhere in the home.
  6. Return to this practise whenever your child needs to focus and listen with care.
