First Grade Seasons Activities: Snowmen

What You Need:

  • Recycled cardboard rolls
  • Tempera paint
  • Small poms
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Glue
  • Googly Eyes
  • Thin ribbon, 6" for each snowman (Felt is optional)
  • Paper plate (Optional)
  • Cotton balls (Optional)

What You Do:

  1. Have your child paint the outside of the paper rolls with white tempera paint. Allow the paint to dry completely.
  2. Ask your child to cut a piece of pipe cleaner and bend it into a "U" shape for the top of the snowman's earmuffs. Glue it into place.
  3. Glue a pom on top of both ends of the pipe cleaner to finish making earmuffs. Repeat for each snowman being created.
  4. Ask your child to paint one long, triangle-shaped nose on each snowman.
  5. Have him glue two googly eyes onto each snowman.
  6. Help him tie a ribbon around his snowman's neck. If you prefer felt, you can create a scarf to keep the snowman cozy and warm!
  7. Glue on mini poms, or paint buttons down the front of each snowman.
  8. If he wants, your kid can create a winter wonderland for his snowmen to inhabit. Simply have him pull apart snow and place it in a paper plate. Then, place the snowmen on top of the plate for a fabulous winter scene!
