Anthropomorphism is when an object has human characteristics. What happens when an already creepy castle becomes personified with facial features? It becomes super-creepy! Your child will make his very own haunted castle sculpture using recycled milk cartons and cardboard tubes. While experimenting with architectural forms, they'll figure out how to give their Halloween dwelling a scary personality.

Thank you for your input.
What You Need:
- Clean, empty and dry milk cartons (1, or 2)
- Cardboard tubes
- Tempera paint
- Paintbrushes
- Scissors
- Glue, or low-heat glue gun with parental supervision
What You Do:
- Ask your child to arrange his cartons and cardboard tubes into the shape of a haunted castle. He may need to cut the tops of the cardboard tubes so they resemble turrets, or flanking towers.
- Have him paint a base coat over the entire house. Let dry.
- Encourage him to paint the windows and door so they resemble a face. What kind of expression does he want his castle to have? How can he alter the windows and doors to make them more expressive?
- Have him paint a texture over the entire building. Ask him what material his castle is made of. What would the material look like as a repeated motif?
- Add some guests in the windows. Maybe there are skeletons, cobwebs, monsters, or ghosts lurking about. Let your creative crafter decide what secrets his castle holds.
- Ask him to glue all the pieces together to complete his personified haunted castle.
