Halloween Party Game

Second Grade Math Activities: Halloween Party Game

What You Need:

  • 10 tin cans
  • Tempera paint
  • Brushes
  • Tape (optional)
  • Medium styrofoam ball
  • Googly eyes
  • Glue
  • 2 or more players

What You Do:

  1. Have the players help paint the cylinders solid Halloween colors. Let dry.
  2. Ask them to paint jack-o'-lanterns or other Halloween creatures on the front of the cans.
  3. Encourage them to paint the styrofoam ball green. Add the googly eyes and a mouth.
  4. Set up the 10 cans in a pyramid shape.
  5. Ask Player A to roll the ball on the ground and try to knock over all the cylinders.
  6. Have the Player A count how many cylinders were knocked over then write the score down.
  7. Continue until each player has had a turn. After the second round and all subsequent rounds, ask the players to add up their scores after each turn so it's easier to keep track of their total score.
  8. Whoever is the first player to arrive at 50 total cans knocked over wins!
