Using hard-boiled eggs and found foliage your child can create a delicate garden print decoration on Easter eggs. This is a beautiful alternative to regular dyed Easter eggs. There's no need to limit yourself if Easter is a ways away. The prints will also look great on white painted round rocks for a year-round nature or outdoor project.
What You Need:
- Hard-boiled egg(s), or white, flat rocks
- Newspaper
- Tempera paint
- Small paintbrush
- Small piece of foliage, leaves with veins are more interesting, dry and free from dirt
What You Do:
- Ask your child to go outside and look for some pretty leaves or foliage to use for the project. Clean them off and let them dry before continuing.
- Now, help your child gently paint the found foliage or leaves using a paintbrush.
- Test out the amount of paint needed by printing the foliage on newspaper. If you cannot see the details of the leaf, you may need to use less paint. Or, if you cannot see the edges of the leaf, you may need to use more paint for your print.
- Repaint, or adjust your paint and gently press the foliage onto the hard-boiled egg. Make sure all the edges are carefully pressed down on the eggshell, then slowly peel it away to reveal a print of the leaf.
- Create prints all around the egg.
Add your beautifully decorated eggs to a basket, or hide them in the yard for the perfect Easter egg hunt!
